Winter Weekend around Breckenridge, Colorado

This past weekend Chris and I made the two hour drive to the Breckenridge area for a little weekend getaway. Breck is the perfect place to spend a winter weekend because it has a lot to see and do! Aside from skiing and snowboarding there are so many places to explore, restaurants to try and beers to drink!

Here are our favorite things we did this weekend:

Ice Castles: These ice castles are a special event in Dillon, Colorado, are can only be seen in a few locations across the country. The castles are made entirely from water and weigh over 25 million pounds. We got tickets for 8:30 pm so we could see the castles at night and it was so cool to explore and walk around.

*Pro Tip: Dress warmly and get your tickets online in advance.

Dillon Dam Brewery: Great atmosphere and beers!

Keystone Lodge and Spa: A great hotel in a great location. Check out the outdoor heated pool and hot tub!

Breckenridge Nordic Center: We came to the Nordic Center to try cross-country skiing. We rented equipment and took off on the trails. We both love skiing and really enjoyed it. It is almost like hiking on skis! And it is a great workout!

*Pro Tip: Dress warmly, but wear wicking material as a base layer. You will definitely sweat!

The Pour House: The brunch and coffee are phenomenal, plus we got a very “local” vibe from this place.

Breckenridge Distillery: We LOVED this place. Try the flights to sample their liquors and then get food and cocktails. The food is incredible! (They even have caviar on the menu!)

Breckenridge Brewery: If beer is more your style, then Breck Brew is for you!

Continental Divide Winery: We sampled the wines here and the people were so kind and knowledgeable.

Relish: Stop in for amazing food and cocktails, but make a reservation.

Have you even been to Breck? Tell us about it in the comments.
